Major League Lacrosse named Ohio Machine attackman Logan Schuss Cascade Rookie the Week for the second time this season after his four-goal and two-assist performance on Saturday in the Machine’s 16-12 win against the Boston Cannons.
The Machine won its first road game of the season 16-12 on Saturday with assistance from Schuss who helped keep the Machine’s lead throughout the entire game. Schuss tallied his two assists of the game during the first quarter when he fed the ball to both Kiel Matisz and Marcus Holman within one minute to keep increasing the Machine’s lead. Schuss put points on the board himself when he scored back-to-back goals in the second quarter to give the Machine an eight-goal lead at the time. In the second half, Schuss scored two more goals, one in the third quarter and another in the fourth to help solidify a Machine win. Schuss also tallied his sixth hat trick of the season on Saturday.
In his first season with the Machine, Schuss currently leads the Machine and all MLL rookies in goals with 27 and also leads the Machine in points with 33. Before his rookie season, Schuss played for the Ohio State Buckeyes for the 2010-2013 seasons. Schuss started and played in every season game during his four years and is ranked first in OSU history for goals with 146 and second in OSU history for points with 237. Schuss also ended his career with 91 assists and 96 collected groundballs.
Schuss was a three-time first team All-ECAC selection, 2012 third team USILA All-American, ECAC Rookie of the Year in 2010, ECAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2012, Face-Off Yearbook preseason second team All-American and 2010 Honorable Mention All American. At OSU, Schuss was a three-time winner of his team’s Offensive MVP award, three-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete, two-time Academic All-Big Ten choice and Academic All-ECAC selection. Schuss was also nominated as one of the top 25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Trophy. As co-captain his senior season, Schuss helped lead the Buckeyes to win the ECAC Championship and advance all the way to the 2013 NCAA Quarterfinals.
