UPDATE 1/8 FROM HEAD COACH AND GENERAL MANAGER BEAR DAVIS: It was a great day visiting the Buckeye lacrosse practice at The Ohio State University. Nothing better than a 50 degree-ish mid-day January practice at the Woody Hayes Complex to kick off the preseason campus tour. A Buckeye practice never disappoints. The staff always has a great mix between teaching, fast pace, fun and discipline. Like most teams during this time of the year, there is a good mix of new concept implementation along with some fine tuning of past principals. The Buckeyes are heavy with underclassmen on the roster bolstering only five players in the senior class. Fortunately for Coach Myers, I do not believe the lack of seniors will hinder talent nor leadership. There are a lot of underclassmen with plenty of experience to help burden the load. This should be a great group to watch grow over the season. This staff always does a great job of coaching their squad up throughout the entire season. A big thank you for having myself, Coach Sullivan and famous OSU alumni current Machine defender Ben Randall as their guest!
COLUMBUS, Ohio– The Ohio Machine coaching staff have announced a winter tour to colleges across the Midwest and Northeast regions in the upcoming weeks. The tour will allow for the coaching staff to scout collegiate talent, examine how the change in collegiate rules has affected the game, and continue to serve as ambassadors of the game of lacrosse. The Machine currently hold the first overall pick in the 2019 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft.
“Our staff is very excited to visit these college campuses and become more familiar with the environments that these student athletes are in,” Machine general manager and head coach Bear Davis said. “With the new NCAA collegiate lacrosse rules, we’re intrigued to see how each program is adapting and preparing for the 2019 season. We feel that it is important to stay current with college trends and be exposed to the daily lives of these athletes to help smooth the transition from college to the pros.”
