Ohio Loses Close Game to Charlotte, 17-16

The Ohio Machine (1-6) scored 11 goals in the second half but the Charlotte Hounds (2-6) were able to hold on for their second win of the season, defeating Ohio 17-16. 

Hounds midfielder Stephen Berger started the scoring on an unassisted goal and midfielder Jovan Miller scored a 2-point goal 38 seconds later to take a quick three goal lead. 

Machine midfielder Kyle Hartzell answered with his fifth 2-point goal of the year to cut the Hounds lead to one.  Chazz Woodson scored to open up the second quarter but Charlotte’s Danowski scored to regain the Hounds lead. 

Ohio tied it back up on rookie Kiel Matisz’s first career goal.  Charlotte ended the half with three straight goals including the second of the game from midfielder Kevin Kaminski. 

Charlotte’s Danowski scored 48 seconds into the half to increase their lead to four.  Defenseman Ray Megill scored the Machine’s second 2-point goal of the day to make the score 9-7.  With 7:09 to go in the third quarter the Machine scored three straight goals ignited by Connor Martin’s 12 th goal of the year. 

The two teams traded leads in the fourth quarter until Kevin Kaminski scored a 2-pt goal to put the Hounds up three with eight minutes to go in the game.  Hounds attackman Jeremy Boltus scored his third of the game to give the Hounds their largest lead of the day. 

Woodson scored his second of the day but Boltus scored his fourth to keep the Hounds ahead by four. 

The Machine began to rally with a 2-point goal from Kyle Hartzell and a goal from Jim Connolly but could not score on its last possession.
