Throughout the off season, Ohio Machine players will be checking in and filling you the fans in on their off season adventures from lacrosse training to vacations. The first check in is from 2013 Machine rookie Logan Schuss.
This is the first "off season" I have had in about six years and I really haven't had any time off. While finishing off my teaching degree at Ohio State University, I have been very active with The Ohio State Men's lacrosse team - helping to prepare them for their season and also preparing myself for the various training camps I am competing in these next few months. I just finished my first camp which was for the Team Canada Men's tryouts for this coming year's world championships in Denver. It was a real honor to be able to step on the field and compete with the best players in Canada and many players who I have looked up to while growing up. The next set of training camps that I've got my eye on is with the Minnesota Swarms of the NLL, which are in November.
One thing I know for sure though - nothing beats Fall at Ohio State. Well, Spring is actually the best, but Fall is awesome too. Buckeye football Saturdays are insane - I've been to a couple home games for the Bucks so far this year and I'm still trying to get my voice back from those. And now that its hockey season, a ton of the men's lax team will be heading to the OSU hockey games to cheer on all our buddies.
Other than that, I've just been hanging out with friends and enjoying my free time. Between rock climbing, horseback riding, bee keeping, and caning my own preserves, there's not much free time left. There's nothing like a a slice of toast with fresh jam and honey to start the morning though!
Go Machine, Oil Up.
