Off-Season Check In: Kyle Hartzell

March 19, 2016
Throughout the off season, Ohio Machine players will be checking in and filling you the fans in on their off season adventures from lacrosse training to vacations. The next check in is from Machine defenseman & MLL veteran Kyle Hartzell.

So at the end of the MLL season, I accepted a job and moved to coach for Plano Lacrosse. I have been in Plano, Texas, for almost two months now.   I am still getting to know what’s in the area, but I am really enjoying it out here.  I am running all the kids through my trainer Jay Dyers Strength and Conditioning program.  The kids are working their butts off and getting better and better every week.  We are running practices six days a week right now and the kids are getting accustomed to what we expect of them week in and week out.

On top of working at Plano, I’m also still involved in my lacrosse company, Rogue Lacrosse. We have our winter ball in full swing in Saratoga Springs, NY.  Our spring and summer schedule will be rolling out in the next month for 2014.  We have a lot going on in 2014 so stay tuned in for that and you can check it all out at

I’ve also been focusing on the Team USA tryouts - we just finished up our third camp together.  It has been the most competitive experience of my life.  With all the unbelievable talent on the field at every position, the coaches really have a lot of hard decisions to make. I am in full swing with training and preparing for the Champions Challenge at the end of January which is our final camp together before the final cuts are being made.

There is a lot going on but I’m looking forward to what the future holds.
