The Ohio Machine, which begins its inaugural season in Major League Lacrosse in May 2012, announced today a trade with the 2011 MLL Champions Boston Cannons to receive the Cannons’ first round MLL Collegiate Draft pick (8 th overall). In exchange, the Cannons receive the Machine’s second round MLL Collegiate Draft pick (15 th overall) and sixth round MLL Expansion Draft pick (11 th overall).
The Machine had recently acquired that second round MLL Collegiate Draft pick in a trade with the Rochester Rattlers, which also brought to the Machine The Ohio State University (OSU) alums Greg Bice, Anthony Kelly and Stefan Schroder, as well as MLL veteran Brett Garber. In return, the Machine had traded their first round (1st overall) and 13th round (25th overall) MLL Expansion Draft picks and their second round (10th overall) and third round (18th overall) MLL Collegiate Draft picks to Rochester.
“This is a notable move for us because it gives us two picks in the top eight of the upcoming collegiate draft,” said President and GM John Algie. “We have the opportunity to select two of the next great MLL stars who can be impact players for us in seasons to come.”
The Machine will have more opportunities to acquire players during the MLL Expansion Draft on December 7, the MLL SupplementalDraft on December 14 and the MLL Collegiate Draft on January 13.
