Machine Trades for Lizards' Steven Waldeck

March 19, 2016
The Ohio Machine has traded for New York defenseman Steven Waldeck, the club announced Wednesday. The Machine acquired Waldeck and New York’s seventh round pick in the 2015 MLL Collegiate Draft in exchange for the Machine’s second round pick in the 2015 MLL Collegiate Draft. The Machine released defenseman Ryan Nizolek to complete the transaction.

Waldeck played in four games for the Lizards in 2014, scoring one goal and picking up two ground balls. He played in all 14 New York games in 2013 and scored three goals – including two 2-pointers – and picked up 28 ground balls. He previously played for Hamilton from 2011-12 and Toronto in 2010.

The Levittown, N.Y., native played for Stony Brook from 2007 to 2010. He led the team with 112 ground balls as a senior, and also scored 10 goals with four assists.

Waldeck was originally drafted by Toronto in the 2010 MLL Collegiate Draft with the 17th overall pick. Waldeck and Machine goalie Scott Rodgers played together at MacArthur High School in New York.

The Machine returns to Selby Stadium on July 4 at 4 p.m. when the team takes on the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Tickets for the game against Chesapeake start at $12 and can be purchased by calling 614-754-1973 or visiting
