Machine Trades For 2010 MLL Championship Weekend MVP

March 19, 2016
The Ohio Machine, which begins its inaugural season in Major League Lacrosse (MLL) in May 2012, announced today a trade with the Chesapeake Bayhawks for 2010 MLL Championship Weekend MVP Kyle Hartzell and the second round MLL Supplemental Draft pick (13 th overall). In exchange, the Bayhawks receives the Machine’s seventh round MLL Expansion Draft pick (13 th overall).

Four year MLL defensive player Hartzell joined the Bayhawks in 2010, playing in more than 20 games, including the 2010 MLL Championship game where he was named the MVP. Prior to the Bayhawks, Hartzell played for Washington in 2009 and San Francisco in 2008.

“Anytime you have the opportunity to trade for a MLL Championship Weekend MVP, you have to make that move,” said President and GM John Algie. “Kyle will inject an incredible amount of athleticism and versatility into the Machine defense.”

Hartzell was drafted by San Francisco after a standout college tenure at Salisbury State University (SSU) where he won two NCAA Division III National Championships, was selected First Team and Third Team All-American and All-League and named SSU 2007 Most Valuable Defenseman.  Hartzell also played at Community College Baltimore County – Essex where he won two NJCAA National Championships during his 2004 and 2005 seasons.

The Machine will have more opportunities to acquire players during the MLL Expansion Draft on December 7, the MLL SupplementalDraft on December 14 and the MLL Collegiate Draft on January 13.
