Machine Lose Tight Game, 14-12.

The Ohio Machine (2-8) outscored the Hamilton Nationals (3-7) 5-4 in the fourth quarter but lost 14-12. 

Nationals' midfielder Jeremy Thompson scored the first goal of the game in his first contest since June 2 nd . Attackman Garret Billings followed it up with a goal of his own to take the early two goal lead. 

Machine defenseman Kyle Hartzell tied it up with his record eighth two-point goal of the season.  The Nationals responded with two straight goals to regain their two point lead. 

With 14 seconds to go in the first quarter, Chazz Woodson scored his 18 th goal of the season to make the score 4-3 at the end of the quarter. 

National’s attackman Garret Billings picked up his second hat-trick in two days when he scored the first two goals of the second quarter. 

At the 7:01 mark, defenseman Ray Megill scored on an assist by rookie Marshall Burkhart.  Attackman Connor Martin netted an unassisted goal with a less than two minutes to go in the half to pull the Machine within one. 

At the start of the third quarter, rookie attackman Joe Cummings scored his first career MLL goal to tie the game up at six. The Nationals broke the tie four minutes later on a goal by attackman Joe Walters.  A goal from attackman Stephen Keogh and two from attackman Cody Jamieson gave Hamilton a four goal lead. 

Machine rookie attackman Steele Stanwick scored and increased his point streak to five games. 

Hamilton’s Kevin Crowley opened the fourth quarter with a goal but Machine midfielder Matt Casey scored a two-point goal to cut the Nationals lead down to two. 

Thompson scored 47 seconds later to make the score 12-9 in the middle of the fourth quarter. 

Stanwick then answered with his second goal of the night and attackman Connor Martin followed with a diving goal to bring the Machine within one. 

Hamilton regained their lead with back to back goals from Keogh and Jamieson.  Machine midfielder Matt Casey brought Ohio back into the game with a goal to make it 14-12.  The Machine had several opportunities to convert in the waning minutes but suffered its eighth loss of the season.
