Ohio Machine rookie attackman Steele Stanwick had three points (2G 1A) in his MLL debut but The Ohio Machine (1-5) could not hold off the Long Island Lizards (4-2) and fell to the Lizards 16-12.

Long Island attackman Grant Catalino started the scoring with a quick goal but Jim Connolly answered with a goal of his own to make the score 1-1.

Rookie attackman Steele Stanwick scored his first career goal in the second quarter to give the Machine a 3-2 lead.  After Stanwick scored, Connolly scored his second of the game to increase the Machine lead to two.  Long Island quickly tied the game up with goals from midfielder Kevin Unterstein and midfielder Albert Maione.  Long Island scored three more goals to give the Lizards a 7-4 lead halfway into the second quarter.

The Machine scored three straight goals including a two pointer from Kyle Hartzell to end the half to give Ohio an 8-7 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

Goals from midfielder Dan Groot and attackman Connor Martin gave the Machine a 10-8 lead early in the third.  The Lizards took command of the game with a 5-0 run to close out the third quarter.

The Machine began to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter with goals from midfielder Matt Casey and defenseman Ray Megill.  Long Island pulled away on a man-up goal from attackman Ryan Young.

Connolly and Stanwick led the Machine with three points each (2G 1A) and midfielder Eric O’Brien set his career high for faceoff wins in a game with 16.  Rookie midfielder Marshall Burkhart tallied his first MLL assist on a pass to Connolly.
