Major League Lacrosse announced Monday that Ohio Machine attackman Marcus Holman was named the Warrior Offensive Player of the Week after his performance in Ohio’s 17-15 victory over the Rochester Rattlers on August 2.
Holman scored a club-record six goals and tied a club record with eight points in the win over Rochester. Holman led all players in both goals and points in the game, earning game MVP honors.
“I am very excited to be named Warrior Offensive Player of the Week, but in my opinion, this is a team award,” Holman said. “Our offense is committed to playing unselfishly and as a unit. I’m looking forward to our final regular season game against Florida and hopefully earning the first playoff berth for this franchise.”
Down by two goals in the fourth quarter, Holman sparked the Machine’s rally when he scored his sixth goal of the night with 5:57 remaining in the game. He added an assist on the game-tying goal just 34 second later before fellow attackman Steele Stanwick scored the game’s final two goals.
This is the second time this season Holman has been named Warrior Offensive Player of the Week. He also earned the honor following the Machine’s Week 5 victory over the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
Joe Fletcher of the New York Lizards was awarded the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week. Fletcher and the Lizards defense held Charlotte’s leading scorer without a goal and limited the Hounds to 11 goals. Rochester Rattlers attackman Mike Cockerton was named the Cascade Rookie of the week after posting four goals in the loss to the Machine.
The Machine returns to Selby Stadium for Fan Appreciation Night on August 9 at 7 p.m. when the team takes on the Florida Launch. Tickets for the game against Florida start at $12 and can be purchased by calling 614-754-1973 or visiting
