Holiday Inn & Machine Have Successful 1st Year

March 19, 2016
On November 9 th, 2011, the Ohio Machine announced a multi-year partnership with the Holiday Inn Columbus Downtown Capitol Square.  During the 2012 season the Holiday Inn Downtown has served as the Preferred Team Hotel of the Ohio Machine.

The hotel currently houses the Machine players and coaches each home game weekend as well as away teams.  It also offers exclusive rates for Machine fans during Machine home game weekends.

Holiday Inn Downtown is located in the heart of Columbus near The Arena District and the Greater Columbus Convention Center.  The hotel also features 240 guest rooms, complimentary high speed wireless internet, a heated indoor pool, and on-site gated parking.

The foundation for this partnership began in the summer of 2011, when current Director of Sales for the Holiday Inn Downtown, Grant Bain, met Ohio Machine Team President John Algie.

Bain has been around lacrosse for his whole life.  Bain grew up in Ohio and played lacrosse for two years at Upper Arlington High School before moving to North Carolina.

“My heart is with lacrosse and my passion is my work, said Bain.  Being able to bring these two worlds together was a great opportunity.”

Bain shared his enthusiasm of the sport with the management of the Holiday Inn Downtown and the hotel agreed to be one of the Machine’s first sponsors.

“This sponsorship was a great deal for us and has helped us continue to cultivate the growth of lacrosse,” said Bain.

Their partnership with the team gives the Holiday Inn exposure on the team’s website and through social media. This increased publicity in the lacrosse community has led to the influx of lacrosse fans at the hotel.

“Our sponsorship with the team has been great,” said Bain.  “We’ve had visiting parents and fans stay with us throughout the entire season.”

The hotel’s sponsorship with the team has also paid dividends for the Machine.  “They have been great to work with,” said Algie. “They have also done a fantastic job delivering first class treatment to our players and fans at every turn”

The Machine currently have three more home games beginning with Radio U Night on July 14 th, against the Hamilton Nationals.  To book a room for this game and to learn more about the Holiday Inn Downtown visit their website at
