Besides being one of the Ohio Machine’s incredible sponsors, Green Dental has decided to play a bigger role in the home game atmosphere this year. For each home game this season, Green Dental is donating 20 tickets for the new “Smile Zone” section to non-profit organizations aiding disadvantaged youth and military families. This season, those organizations being honored are Lacrosse the Nations and Operation: Military Kids.
“These organizations have such a positive influence on the youth of America. Not just for these children but for generations to come,” said Dr. Robert Green from Green Dental. “We need organizations like this to help guide children and families by exposing them to positive life experiences such as an Ohio Machine game.”
Lacrosse the Nations is an international non-profit organization that travels across the globe to teach lacrosse, as well as life skills, to kids in need. LtN also educates kids on being healthy and active. Their main goal is to bring joy and hope to kids in communities in need of a healthier, better life. Machine players Matt Cafarelli and Greg Bice are currently working with LtN locally and internationally, as well as several other Machine and MLL players who have contributed to the organization over the years. Current international programs are located in Nicaragua and Costa Rica. LtN most recently added a local program with Weinland Park Elementary School. The Weinland Park “Wolf Pack” consists of 15 4th and 5th grade boys who have now started a lacrosse team who have just begun their second season.
"Lacrosse the Nations is so grateful that one of our teams, the Weiland Park Wolfpack, will be able to see MLL games again this season,” said LtN Executive Director Ellen Cohn. “The generosity of Dr. Green and the Machine make amazing opportunities like this possible. I know Wolfpack coaches Greg Bice and Matt Cafarelli will love seeing their players in the stands!"
Operation: Military Kids is an organization that provides youth programs and support services where military children are affected by the deployment of their family members. OMK’s goal is to “connect military children and youth with local resources in order to achieve a sense of community and enhance their well-being.” OMK is a nationwide organization with local operations through The Ohio State University and Ohio 4-H.
“Military families need time to reconnect and relax together after a deployment,” said OMK Program Manager Katie Feldhues. “Dr. Green is providing a special experience for military families to build new memories by sponsoring the Smile Zone.”
“This donation will allow the children that these organizations serve to experience a pro sporting event,” said Dr. Green. “The Ohio Machine game experience will enable these children to see the results of what discipline, teamwork and goal setting can achieve through athletic competition.” Dr. Green believes that these lessons and game excitement combined will have a “positive impact on these kids for a lifetime.”
Be sure to check out the Green Dental “Smile Zone” at all home games this season including the home opener on May 4!
