On Tuesday, October 27, the Ohio Machine announced a new stage in club history as the team unveiled Panther Stadium at Ohio Dominican University as its new home. After four incredible years at Selby Stadium on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University, the Machine embarks on a new chapter in team history.
TheOhioMachine.com sat down with Machine Vice President of Business Operations Gregg Klein to ask a few questions about the team’s move to Panther Stadium at Ohio Dominican University:
Why the move?
GK: Let me start by saying how lucky we were to have such great partners in Ohio Wesleyan University the last four years. From an expansion club in 2012, to hosting a MLL Semifinal game at Selby Stadium, our team grew up at Selby. As we grew over the years, our front office analyzed our Season Ticket Member demographic and ask for feedback from our fan base. We discovered that finding a location central to the Downtown Columbus area was an important next step in the team’s growth.
Why did the team decide on Panther Stadium?
GK: In doing a tremendous amount of research, we identified a very strong mutual interest in Ohio Dominican University. We saw our goals were extremely similar, and in the next stage of our team’s growth, we were looking for a partner we could grow WITH! Panther Stadium at Ohio Dominican University is going to be a fantastic venue for our team, but more importantly, our fans. The stadium will be an intimate atmosphere, with our fans right on top of the action that’s taking place on the field.
Panther Stadium is much smaller than Selby Stadium, will there be enough seats for all the fans?
GK: It is our plan to add extra seats to Panther Stadium for our 2016 MLL season. With the additional bleacher seating, and the on-field seating options we are offering, the expected capacity for a Machine game will be over 3,000. We really think our fans will enjoy the new ticket options that include standing room only tickets and on-field seats that will maximize the amazing features of Panther Stadium.
Will there be parking at Panther Stadium?
GK: There are over 800 parking spaces directly next to Panther Stadium. Parking will continue to cost $5 on game day.
Will we be allowed to tailgate in the parking lots at Panther Stadium?
GK: Absolutely! We know our fans are going to enjoy that experience.
What will ticket packages look like at Panther Stadium?
GK: One of the best parts about the 2016 season is our new ticket plans and pricing. In addition to calling Panther Stadium home, our ticket prices have actually dropped from previous seasons. The new ticket structure is:
Of course, season ticket remain the best way to save money and reserve a seat for all the incredible action on the field. Currently our field boxes and seatback chairs are only available for Season Ticket Members. Those premium options will become available to the public in early 2016. General Admission season tickets are on sale now!
