Black Wing Shooting Center Starts at Ground Level

March 19, 2016

The Black Wing Shooting Center in Delaware, Ohio, began providing service to the Delaware community and the surrounding area in 2004.  Since the company’s inception Black Wing has adhered to providing safe and high-quality entertainment to the whole family.

Black Wing’s dedication to family entertainment and presence in the local community has helped build the foundation for their sponsorship with the Ohio Machine.

Black Wing Marketing Coordinator Andrew Whitehead first learned about the Machine through the Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce.  For Whitehead the sponsorship was a perfect fit.  “My background is sports marketing and it’s something I thoroughly believe in and enjoy,” said Whitehead. “For Black Wing, it fit because we like to stay active in the community.”

As an official supporter, the Black Wing Shooting Center’s partnership with the Machine in its inaugural season has helped Black Wing increase its brand awareness throughout the Delaware community.

“For us the main goal is to increase our exposure and the fan zone is where we have the most impact,” said Whitehead.  The fan zone allows us to get our message to the fans and it’s nice to have that face-to-face interaction.”

The face-to-face interaction allows Black Wing to help educate people who are afraid and unfamiliar with guns.  “People who are afraid of firearms don’t need to be afraid,” said Whitehead. “We can get rid of that ignorance and make them comfortable around firearms.”  As part of its effort to educate, Black Wing offers a variety of beginning classes and private lessons.  The shooting center even offers a summer camp for kids.

Educating its patrons about firearm safety is just one of the many services Black Wing offers.  The Black Wing Shooting Center is the only five-star rated facility in the state of Ohio and received this rating from the National Shooting Sports Foundation for its overall quality of appearance, management, customer service, amenities, customer development and community relations.

Outside of offering classes and training, Black Wing is the home of an indoor pistol and rifle range and an outdoor shotgun range.  The shotgun range offers several types of courses including trap shooting, skeet shooting, five-stand, and sporting clays.

Black Wing is also home to a full retail store where customers can purchases a wide array of firearms and accessories.

The shooting center is open to the public but Black Wing also offers memberships.  As a member, you receive an annual price for your family and a five percent retail discount.  Black Wing offers many different membership opportunities including outdoor shotgun, indoor pistol/rifle, combination and corporate memberships.

Another unique and important facet of the Black Wing facilities is its ability to host group outings.  The shooting center has been home to birthday parties, family reunions and charity events.  The facility offers several meetings rooms and a large banquet room.  Black Wing also offers catering for these events.

Whitehead hopes that the variety of amenities that Black Wing offers will help entice first time visitors to the shooting center.  Black Wing’s sponsorship with the Machine has not only helped the company increase its exposure but has also helped the Machine spread its brand throughout the Delaware community.

“Our goal was to support another organization in the community and become visible outside of our doors,” said Whitehead. “You can’t put a figure on how valuable that relationship is.”
