2019 Ohio Girls HS Lacrosse Top 10 Rankings

March 13, 2019
For the first time, I’ll be taking a crack at the girls statewide preseason poll. Just like I have done with our college rankings earlier this year, I reached out to respected coaches in each region to help me out! On this panel, I had four different coaches give me their top 10 and then I assigned points to each rank given. If someone received a number one, they received 10 points. If one thing was clear after I collected votes….WE HAVE A TWO HORSE RACE! The top team received 39 votes while the runner up earned 37! The most impressive stat of our preseason poll was that 21 different teams received points! Here are the full rankings with some analysis to follow:

NEW CHAMP? As it shakes out, New Albany HS edges the four-time defending state champions for the preseason first place spot by only two points. We will all have to wait until April 20th to see the rematch of last years state title game when New Albany will walk into Golden Bear country to see if the pre-season poll rings true.

MEET THE CHALLENGE: The Golden Bears will play 8 of the teams in the top 10!!  The only team not on their schedule is defending 2018 DII Cincinnati Mariemont H.S.

DIVISION LINES: Two DII teams made the preseason poll. Columbus St. Francis DeSales (4) and Cincinnati Mariemont (8). The two teams will meet up on April 5th in Columbus which potentially could be a DII state championship preview. Mariemont will step out of division to play regional foe Sycamore (8) and DeSales will face of our top 10 teams that compete in DI!

SAVE THE DATE: The girls state championship will take place on Saturday June 1st.  Historic Selby Stadium at Ohio Wesleyan will play host to the games.  The first Ohio Machine Senior All- Star game will be hosted at Fortress Obetz on June 15th.
