2012 MLL Season:
Brian Phipps has played in six games and made his Ohio Machine debut against the Charlotte Hounds (5/12) splitting his game time with Stefan Schroder. Phipps made his first start with the Machine against the Denver Outlaws (6/9) making a season high 10 saves. Phipps made his second start of the season against the Hounds (6/23), allowing only 15 goals while making 11 saves. Against the Hamilton Nationals (7/13), Phipps only allowed 12 goals and made 18 saves, which is one away from his career high and was named Bud Light Player of the Game. Phipps brought his goals against average to a season low 12.8, when he only allowed nine goals against the Chesapeake Bayhawks (7/21). In the team's first game against the Boston Cannons (8/4) and his last game of the season, Phipps tied a career high for saves in a game with 19.
2013 MLL Season:
Brian Phipps has not seen any action in the 2013 season.
Prior to joining the Machine, Brian Phipps was drafted by the Chesapeake Bayhawks after a standout college tenure at University of Maryland. While playing all four seasons for the Terps, Phipps was named 2007 ACC Rookie of the Year, 2010 All-American, 2010 Scholar All-American, 2010 University of Maryland Male Athlete of the Year and All-ACC Academic Team in 2008, 2009 and 2010. In his rookie 2011 season with the Bayhawks, Phipps took to the goal for 10 games, including a stellar game where he stopped a total of 21 shots earning him the MLL Defensive Player of the Week, and later on being named to the 2011 MLL All-Star team.
