Who do you think is going to start defense this year?
We have an experienced core of long poles returning along with an additional group of new defensive players who will be attending training camp. All of them will be competing for playing time and roles on the team which should make training camp very successful in terms of putting together a top level defensive group for the 2013 season.
Who’s going to be the starting goalie?
Our starting goalkeeper will be the player who has the most productive training camp. All of our goalkeepers are proven past winners and great team players, so it is going to be fun watching them compete and support each other at the same time. I strongly believe that playing goalkeeper in the MLL is probably the toughest position to play because of all of the great offensive players that they have to ultimately try to make saves against.
How does the team look at taking face-offs this year?
We are expecting that our face-off winning percentage will improve from last season, winning the ball in those situations can really help to maintain momentum during the game. However, it essentially does not come down to one guy, the wing guys also play a key role during the face-off situations.
What do you think about the Machine’s college draft class?
Our entire organization is thrilled with our college draft class. They are players who have been great players for their college teams and our GM John Algie did a great job working behind the scenes helping to put the group together. We have great expectations for them, but it basically comes down to what they do, how they perform once they join us at the conclusion of their seasons. It is a show me quickly league.
