Machine's Protected 23-Man Roster

The Ohio Machine announced today its protected 23-man roster which includes team MVP and 2012 All-MLL Defenseman Kyle Hartzell, Machine Offensive Player of the Year and 2012 Co-Captain Chazz Woodson and MLL All-Star and Co-Captain Greg Bice. Other players protected are rookie standouts Steele Stanwick, Joe Cummings, Marshall Burkhart and Kiel Matisz.

Per Major League Lacrosse rules, each team is required to cut its roster down to 23 total players regardless of each player’s status heading into the offseason.

“We had some difficult decisions to make heading into the offseason,” said Machine President and General Manager John Algie. “But we developed an impressive foundation of players this year and we’re excited to build upon it for 2013 as we prepare for the Supplemental and Collegiate Drafts.”

Players from the 2012 inaugural season roster not protected include defenseman Brett Hughes and midfielder Jimmy Borell who both retired at the end of this past season. Additional players not protected include attackmen Nick Beattie, Austin Bright, Alex Demopoulos and Brady Williams, midfielder Matt Messina and defensemen Matt Cafarelli and Audi Glass.

Players not protected are eligible for the 2013 MLL Supplemental Draft held on December 12, 2012. The Machine holds six of the top 31 picks in the Supplemental Draft.

The Machine will continue to add to its roster on January 11, 2013 during the 2013 MLL Collegiate Draft where the Machine holds five of the top 20 picks, including the first overall.

Season tickets are now available to reserve for the 2013 season by putting a $10 deposit down per seat.
